Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when we contact you?

I send you an information pack.
If everything is in order contact me within a week for an appointment
I like to meet at a time and place suitable to you but generally find a Saturday or Sunday morning around 10 a.m. works best.

At our Meeting:

I make it my business to listen to what you want for your special day and interpret your wishes exactly as you have communicated.
I find that every couple has a different story to tell, and I write each ceremony reflecting your story. I show you my references,
photos and and give you vow – ring exchange information. Then I get you to confirm with me a couple of days later that I’m the person
you want, to perform your wedding. Once confirmed, we have fun working together to make your wedding day superb!

What do I charge:

I charge $495. It’s important that I receive a deposit of $200.00 to confirm the booking, as I have a very full calendar.
The balance is payable prior to the big day I don’t mind going to rehearsals or “doing whatever it takes” to make the day perfect.
There is a $50 charge for rehearsals, and a travelling charge may be necessary.

What happens after our meeting and you decide to go ahead?

Please advise me by phone or email when you’ve made your decision.
I require a deposit of $200 into my bank account 12-3039-0872168-03
I send a confirmation letter and receipt.
I then require your homework – http://www.ceremoniesonline.co.nz/Forms/wedform.htm
I write the draft ceremony a month before your wedding..
To obtain your wedding license go to http://www.bdm.govt.nz
Notice of Intended Marriage BDM 60
Notice of Intended Marriage (change of relationship from civil union) BDM59
Notice of Intended Marriage (where both parties ordinarily resident outside New Zealand) BDM58
fill out the Notice of Intended Marriage – lodge it at the Department of Internal Affairs office near you. It will be ready for pick up 3 days later.
We then meet to discuss the draft or at the rehearsal and I like to get the license from you. (that way it doesn’t get forgotten on the day)
After the wedding you get a copy and I send the other copy to the Department for registration.
What about on the day:
I make sure I’m dressed immaculately in the colours that compliment the bridal party.
I arrive at least 1/2 an hour before (to make sure everything is in order).
I introduce myself to the parents as I am usually welcoming them in the ceremony.
I have a clear voice that I project so that everyone can hear me.
I put the bride and groom at ease and make them feel comfortable.
I read the ceremony from your own personally designed book that I give to you for a gift.
What other guarantees?
I will have the ceremony “signed off” at least 2 weeks before the wedding. That I’ll make sure everything is on track for the day.
I will take my leave at the appropriate time and not rush off when the ceremony is over.
I ensure all legalities are in order and the necessary paperwork is completed.
